What is an energy audit?

Step One

Evaluate the energy bills

A lot can be gained by a year’s worth of utility bills to get an idea of where the biggest pain and potential for savings are in a home.

This is just a start, but this confidential evaluation allows the auditor to determine the percentage of baseload (the amount the homeowner spends on average every month on operating the appliances, electronics lighting and hot water usage) versus the amount spent heating and cooling the home. This is the first piece of the puzzle.

Step Two

Customer Interview

Sometimes the most revealing clues can come from the interview with you, Mr. or Ms. Homeowner.

Going over the details on levels of discomfort, overly hot or cold rooms, where the electric heater needs to be used and so on can help the auditor diagnose and pinpoint the largest energy draining areas of the house.
