Energy Efficient Home Tax Credits:
What: Up to $500 (10% of the improvements with cap of $500) in total tax credits per residential filing in energy/ weatherization home improvements in 2011. No credit allotted if taken in either 2009 or 2010 tax filings.
Federal Renewable Tax Credit:
What: 30% of total costs of renewable energy installation (includes solar hot water, Photo Voltaics, see link for more information) installed any year up to 2016. No tax credit cap.
Residental Energy Improvement Personal Tax Credit
Incentive Type: Personal Deduction for unspecified improvements. Energy audit costs are covered.
Amount: 100% of the cost of improvements, up to $1000 per return, $2,000 cumulatively per taxpayer .
Terms: Requires energy audit from DNR certified home energy auditor; only cost of audit and improvements identified during audit are eligible.
Expires: 12-31-2013
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR rebate through KCP&L* and MGE utilities
Rebate: $600 per utility for a total of $1200 up to all or part of the improvement cost. Certain improvements not covered.
What: Improvement such as upgrading or adding more insulation, windows, doors and air sealing. Heating and Cooling equipment not covered.

Expires: No information available. Indefinite as long as HPwES is in place and these utilities participate.
